SAPD Central Post was founded in October 2008, and uses post number 2459, commemorating the badge number of the late SAPD Detective Mario Moreno in his honor.

At our weekly meetings, Central Substation Explorers will receive one hour of classroom instruction, one hour of tactical training, followed by thirty minutes of physical training. Outside of our weekly meetings, Explorers also help with community service events, and can participate in downtown bike rides after completion of the explorer bike school.

Central Substation has one of the largest posts that offers, in addition to Explorers, Explorer “Scouts” for boys and girls that are in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade, and the Applicant Preparation Program, “APPs”, for those that are over 21 years of age.

Meetings are held on Wednesdays from 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM at 515 South Frio, San Antonio, TX 78207 for all three programs.

Officer Rick Olivares #1295 is the Post Advisor and may be contacted at 210-207-5178 or emailed at
